ALL WE NEED IS LOVE

The news rambles on with injustice after another. A thousand pins stuck into the heart like an over-used pincushion. How much can a person bear? I can’t, so I take the dog for a walk, kicking aside the whip-it canisters and beer cans - all indicators of others’ inability to cope. The spiral down is a black hole that none of us can escape. Hippie hopefulness is like a glimmer of light from the sun or a silver glow from the moon, yet it seems too far off, too gentle to reverse the sucking action as humanity descends down the toilet.

Almost every atrocity is done in the name of money or power. It is an old story, one that goes back to the earliest records of human history. Every religion warns against greed, yet it infiltrates even the most well-meaning religion. We can’t shake it. Today, we glorify greed and selfishness and idolize those who are the most self-centered, hence we approach the event horizon of no return.

How can we make people choose the good path? It really is simple- Love and generosity. Start with loving those around you, love this society, love this world. Gratitude, humility - you know all those wonderful parts of being human that take a little practice. Some people are endowed with good hearts and some need to cultivate these qualities. Religions tried to create a good humanity but underneath the ills of money and power warped the well-meaning vision.

We are in a healing modality because as long as we run from our demons they haut us. We are letting our worst qualities have their way right now. It is so clear that it is difficult to look at. Lots and lots of pain from bad decisions- political, social, environmental, and personal. Can’t fight it. Just got to look at it and acknowledge how we are. We are greedy. We want everything for ourselves. We want to fuck everything. We want more candy. It’s primal.

The thing about Black Holes is, according to Stephen Hawkins (amazing theoretical scientist), they actually generate new matter. It’s a powerful point where quantum particles of opposite charge are separated from each other and energetic matter is actually isolated into existence. Ok soooo….

Humanity on this planet is on an event horizon. We have indulged every fantasy, every convenience, and every polluting atrocity. We’re hitting bottom and very few are looking up. But here is where we see what we are really made of. Humanity is separating into factions as we also join as one world. We are generating a new type of humanity. One that will go on in a world that will be a complex organism of Earthlings.

The only ones that will be able to pull this off for the long run are those with love in their hearts. That is the only measure of success. It’s not going to be the Mad Max vision -that will only be a blip in time and die off because that holds no future. The Earth is alive and creates with love. You only need to walk out into the wilderness to feel it. Love creates bonds, satisfies our deepest longings, and creates societies. If you don’t believe that, really look at our society. You think it’s all running because of CEOs?

This whole world is running because of people who love children, volunteer in organizations, clean houses, share resources, create social events, and house people. Society is running because of the unpaid labor of love. It is the hidden resource of all functioning societies, the saviors to the religious, and the superpower of the hippies. As the environment degrades, love will be the one sure guiding light out of the black hole to perhaps a saner humanity that loves the Earth as much as the Earth loves us.
