The Game

The actions of our greater political world are very disappointing. It feels like the people at the top are just playing some stupid game. It is so obvious what needs to happen to help us move forward into an appropriate technology, low-garbage future. So easy to do, like ban single-use plastics and make stuff out of blue-green algae (which is biodegradable and cleans up rivers too) – they already have this technology. But are we doing this- no- we are giving the okay to go into the Alaska wilderness to strip mine for coal. Uggg. But you know the story. I don’t need to go into all the B.S.

What is the point? The game our western culture is playing is called Monopoly. We have all played it. Of course, the kids who won the game are the CEO’s of today. Mostly hippy kids were happy with their 200$ every go around and wanted to hang out at Park Place with the cool silver hat piece.

Well, capitalism is driving the show now. Like lemmings on a speeding train with no brakes, corporate capitalists (the 1% that own every major corporation and bank that also own political parties) are going to drive us all off the cliff. They will win - but nobody else will survive to play.

The games and fiction of today will create the future. Reality moves with our imaginations, but most people are not conscious of this and hence follow fixations, rushes of adrenalin, and grasp at the endless sea of confusion (samsara). Where will this lead us? Probably no where I want to be.

The world is splitting apart as we all follow our own dreams. It is so confusing with so many paths to choose from, so many temptations to follow. How does one navigate this game? It takes a mantra to keep us on a path. Money, Sex, Entertainment, Power are the mantras of our culture.

But Hippies know better mantras.

Can we play another game? What about imagining another reality where people care about each other and the object is not money but relationships, cultivation with nature, and peace. Wow, peace - a simple word yet a fleeting experience. If we asked the coal companies if they experience peace - that is something no one has asked. How about asking the police department or the government – hey, when have you experienced peace? If we encourage that experience; if that feeling has value – our world would be transformed.

Sounds improbable. Well, this is a hippy blog. We are here to imagine peace.
