Hippie, I'm not a hippie!
Most people would not refer to themselves as a hippie. When we think ‘hippie’ we are usually thinking of some image of the past with long hair and bell bottom pants. This is a cliché image and one that just a few people don. The image needs to be updated. Hippies not only still exist, they have multiplied.
Let’s take a look at some modern-day hippies, Ok-Lenny Kravetz, but how about -Willie Nelson, even -Amy Goodman, I could even reach so far as to say Lady Gaga and Bernie Sanders. Why would I call them hip because they are far left of center, radical in their truth speaking, and cultivated their own unique way. This is the essence of hip. To find your truth and live it!
Not just any truth- not a truth that you have been brain washed into- a status quo truth, but a deeper, personal, more critical truth- one that cuts through the gargantuan pile of cultural crap. So many layers of crap!
A truth that becomes universal because it is what is going on. Not a self-deluded truth of wanting the world to be a certain way or trying to make everyone conform to a belief. But a truth that is so open, that it is inclusive. -and that my friends are why the hipness is growing. All those Bernie Sanders supporters, all those protesters, all those activist, they didn’t just go away.
It may not appear that way on the TV because all of that is run by so many squares. There are some hip media, but you really have to look for it. With your Hippie-Spidey senses, you have to seek out the good stuff. Ignore the rest. Can’t do anything about the squares. They are where they are. Just work on yourself and look inside for your freaky soul and let it shine. That is all you need do on this earth. -Hubabuba, abracadabra and hallelujah.
