HIP HOMELESSNESS

Homelessness - as it becomes more common it also becomes a dirty word, a slander instead of a condition. People of great talent and creative vision are wandering with packs on their backs or living in vehicles. Their stories are varied. Some come from poor families, some come from rich families but are refugees of conservative America. The woke can’t like in little boxes taking daddy’s dirty money. It is soul killing.

This time is very reminiscent of the ‘60s in its split in ideology of families. Kids would rather take a chance living poor in a bus or on the street than live under a conservative roof. People are looking for meaningful work not just crappy jobs. We are looking for solutions and how to not be part of the problem. That means giving up comforts, forging out to look for supportive communities, and working in low-paying, seasonal jobs that make us feel closer to the land.

The homeless population is a huge mix of people that have been abused, abandoned or unloved as well as working people who have lost jobs and homes, with a mix of revolutionary youth seeking a new vision of a non-material life.

A prayer for these people in this holiday season and if you can spare a warm place for them to rest, or a joint for them to smoke, or even just a cup of coffee -this is the season of giving not shopping.
